In June 2019, Governor J.B. Pritzker signed legislation legalizing sports betting in Illinois. The new law allows physical betting and mobile betting, though mobile betting isn’t legal until 18 months after retail sports betting launches. Additionally, a master license is required for mobile betting, which is an obstacle for some businesses. Also, in Illinois, FanDuel and DraftKings are unable to offer their services unless they get a master license.

The NFL is the most popular sport to bet on. It consists of 32 teams, with the regular season spanning from early September to the end of the year. There are also postseason games, capped by the Super Bowl, which are considered the largest single-day sports betting event of the year. In addition to NFL games, BetMGM and Betway are also official betting partners of the Knicks, Nets, and Rangers.
